The beater bowl and whisk attachments are a great addition to the Ankarsrum Original Assistent! Fun fact - they were added to the package many many years later. I like to add this point as a reminder that the roller and dough knife can do all your mixing! It can make butter, it can whip cream, it can make beautiful cookies and muffins. Personally, I take out the beater bowl for whipping cream cheese, icing or whipping cream and I continue to try and master all my baking with the roller. I mean, no changes to the roller since 1940 friends...it works!
Quick things to double-check:
-
Make sure you're using the correct bowl
The clear plastic bowl is for whisks and cookie beaters, not for dough.
(The stainless steel bowl is for the dough hook and roller). -
Check that the drive shaft is fully seated
The center drive shaft should click securely into the bottom of the bowl. If it's not fully inserted, the whisks or beaters won't spin correctly. -
Confirm the whisks/beaters are installed tightly
Push the attachments firmly onto the shaft until they lock in place. Loose attachments can cause slipping or no movement. -
Place beaters on first
If you add ingredients first, its harder to fit the beaters properly. This can lead to bowl cracking if the beaters are not seated on the shaft correctly, which is considered a user error - not a warranty/product issue. -
Start on low speed
The beater bowl works best when you start on low and increase speed gradually.

If you have questions about using them, I encourage you to watch the Ankarsrum videos on YouTube or to reach out. It's better to be safe than sorry! This attachment is extremely handy and does a great job - but only when used properly. It's not the same as a Kitchenaid and if you try to mix it like that, it's likely to run into challenges. Take the time to learn your machine for the powerful beast it is, and understand its differences from other mixers. As always, we're here to help. Happy Baking!
